The concept is simple: people of all faiths come together and learn how to embrace other faiths and offer spiritual support to their fellow staff members. I liked the offering spiritual strength to other staff part. But the embracing other faiths was more than I bargained for. In short, getting up close and personal with Buddists, Muslims, Hindus challenged my inner bias. I struggled alot with wrapping my mind around their alternative gods and spiritual practices. But I made myself listen to them. And ulitmately I developed a deeper respect for them and their commitment to their faith. This experience also strengthened my own faith: I believe even more than ever in the supremacy of Jesus Christ. I came across an interesting article during this time that blessed me. I share it now with you and welcome your comments on this topic.

http://www.sltrib.com/faith/ci_12690334

Servanthood

I walked into the Employee Locker Room and noticed a tag from one of the keys was laying on the floor. That's all I did. I noticed it. I didn't pick it up. I just went about my business. A few minutes later, another employee came in. She noticed the key tag and picked it up. She responsibly put it on the secretaries desk, "in case someone needed it."

What was the difference? She reacted as a servant. And I didn't.

I was preoccupied and self absorbed. She wasn't. Which one of us acted the most like Jesus? Hint: NOT ME! As soon as she picked up the tag, I felt the inner stirring of the Holy Spirit saying; It's time to check your heart-itude.

Granted, it was just a key tag. But, my reaction was really what was under scrutiny that morning. God was showing me there was room for improvement - alot of room.

The Holy Bible puts it all into perspective:

"And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all." (Mark 10:44) The Amplified Bible says slave of all. The following verse says that Jesus himself came to be a slave to all well.

Jesus, help me to become that servant, yea even a slave to my co-workers that you might recieve the glory!

Small Gestures - HEART IMPACT

In my job, I manage volunteers. I recieved flower and a card from one of them this week thanking me for 'making their life so much better.' I was deeply touched - especially since I really didn't feel that I'd done that much. The person had been ill and I sent her a card, called a few times and prayed with her once. My gestures were just simple acts of kindness but they touched a deep place in her. I believe it was the Holy Spirit at work in through me. Jesus loved her through my small gestures to make a HEART IMPACT. Let's remember this week at work, never to get too busy or too bogged down with our tasks that we don't pause to show the love of Christ to our fellow man. Remember Jesus' admonished us in John 13:35 " By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." What acts of kindness have you done on God's behalf at work lately?

Mondays

I't s Monday morning and try as I might to get excited about the work week, the joy escapes me. There is a place in God where I am able to view work as my mission field. Now this I get excited about. Lord, restore unto me your joy about the place You've chosen me to spend 1/3 of my life. Interestingly enough, my daily reading for June 1st is appropiate:

"Whenyou say, 'Thy kingdom come,' you are inviting the Messiah himself to walk into your world. (Amplified Bible)

This scripture is a reminder to me that I am to seek God's approval and favor - not man's. It's easy to get caught up in trying to schmooze the boss or impress the V.P.'s when in the corporate arena. Most organizations reinforce this type of behavior by granting raises, promotions etc.
Therefore, many clamor to find ways to bring the proverbial red shiny apple to the teacher. But, Jesus says, I am to seek His approval. Honor my superiors, yes. But care most about pleasing Him and doing things according to His holy word. If I do, I am promised that He will raise me up in due time. "...and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly." (Matthew 6:4)

MY PRAYER: Heavenly Father, keep my motive pure at work. I have a coworker who wastes alot - ALOT of time with personal things, leaving me to struggle. Occasionally - very occasionally, I'll speak up and ask her to do something.
